Physical Therapy

PT customize services to fit the needs of each individual child. Depending on the child, Physical Therapists aim to help facilitate strength, balance and general range of motion improvement plans that promote a more independent lifestyle for the child in the future.

PTs provide meaningful and functional solutions that allow students to access the curriculum and participate in daily classroom events. PTs serve as an active member of the IEP team as well as the educational community sharing their expertise to support existing educational policies regarding physical activity (as it pertains to building academic achievement, obesity prevention, and health promotion). PTs provide treatment when the service is needed for the student to benefit from their education. Treatment can be 1:1 direct therapy, consultation, and in groups.

Physical Therapists are highly trained professionals who use up to date, evidence-based treatment techniques to provide the best possible services. Physical Therapists develop individualized plans for every child to cultivate the development of improved physical ability, ranging from improving specific mobility functions to general motor skills. That includes not limited to:

  • Gross motor skills development
  • Targeted functional mobility
  • Gait and posture training
  • Strength training
  • Balance and coordination training
  • Flexibility training
  • Adaptive equipment implementation
  • Orthotic implementation and training
  • Prosthetic training and management
  • Tone management
